Isabel Metcalfe

Isabel Metcalfe is a Canadian political advisor, and was the Liberal Party of Canada candidate in the riding of Carleton—Mississippi Mills in the 2006 federal election.

Born in Almonte, Ontario, Metcalfe today lives in downtown Ottawa where she has worked for the Liberals for several decades, and was a top aide to Heritage Minister Sheila Copps. She worked on Copps bid to for the Liberal leadership. At the same time, her husband Herb Metcalfe, also a longtime Liberal operative, was a top aide to rival John Manley's campaign. Since 2003, she has been working in the private sector.

The riding of Carleton—Mississippi Mills is part of the fairly staunchly conservative belt of seats in rural Eastern Ontario. Created in 2003, it was captured by Conservative Gordon O'Connor, who won over 10,000 more votes than his closest opponent, former football star Dan Wicklum.
