CJLX-FM

91X(CJLX FM) is a Canadian radio station, which broadcasts at 91.3 FM in Belleville, Ontario. It is the campus radio station of the city's Loyalist College. CJLX was the first frequency in Canada to be granted a campus instructional license, as it is a means of training for students in the school's radio broadcasting and broadcast journalism programs. Though broadcasting from Loyalist College, the station primarily has a community oriented focus, with slightly more emphasis on the college.

The station originally began broadcasting in 1992 at 92.3 FM. [ [http://www.crtc.gc.ca/archive/ENG/Decisions/1990/DB90-1100.htm Decision CRTC 90-1100] ] Although commercial advertising is heard on 91X, it is a not-for-profit radio station, which in turn generates support rather than competition from local broadcasting companies. It has a unique "Alternative Radio" format. Throughout the work week, the station plays New Rock tracks with a mix of Classic Alternative selections, for example, The Clash, David Bowie, Nirvana, etc. Specialty programming is aired some weeknights and on weekends including shows featuring Classical Music, Jazz, Blues, Big Band, Oldies and Classic Alternative Sundays. Some spoken word programs are heard as well including The Parent Journal and Fletch's Canadian Comedy Cafe and Brit.com.

In 2004, CJLX was approved by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) to change frequencies from 92.3 to 91.3 FM and increase the effective radiated power. [ [http://www.crtc.gc.ca/archive/ENG/Decisions/2004/db2004-448.htm Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2004-448] ]

On October 11, 2005 at 12:00 midnight, CJLX officially moved to its new current frequency at 91.3 FM. The new stronger signal now covers the entire Quinte region.
