Buckley Petawabano is a Canadian actor and communications consultant.

Cree from northernQuebec , Petawabano was educated inSault Ste. Marie, Ontario . He subsequently acted in theCBC Television series "Adventures in Rainbow Country ", in which he played Pete Gawa, one of the first regularFirst Nations characters to appear in a Canadian television series. In 1975, he also appeared in the film "Cold Journey ", and subsequently worked in film production on a series of short films about First Nations culture.Petawabano now runs his own production company in Mistissini, Nesk Productions [ [http://www.gcc.ca/archive/article.php?id=171 Cree Enterprises] ] , and has worked with the
Grand Council of the Crees on communications initiatives. He is on the committee of theEeyou Communications Network , an initiative to improve telecommunications andbroadband Internet services to Cree communities, and has made presentations to theCanadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission on strategies to improve media and telecommunications services in First Nations communities.References
