Berry Plastics a leading maker of injection-molded and thermoformed plastic products for hundreds of products in the following major product areas: open-top containers, closures, drink cups, bottles, tubes, prescription vials, overcaps, and consumer products. It was founded in 1967 in Evansville, Indiana.

Its containers hold items ranging from dairy products to chemicals. Closures include overcaps for aerosol cans and caps for food packaging, mouthwash, shampoos, and detergent containers.

BPC Holdings

The company is the major subsidiary of BPC Holding Corporation. Funds associated with Goldman Sachs control 60% of BPC Holding; funds associated with J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. control 27%. Mergers & Acquisitions

On March 12, 2007, Berry Plastics announced it will merge with Covalence Specialty Materials Holding Corporation, a Bedminster, New Jersey based plastics company. The newly merged company will retain the Berry Plastics name and be based in Evansville. On October 31, 2007, Berry Plastics laid out plans to bring 250 professional jobs as well as their corporate global headquarters to Evansville, Indiana in a multi-million dollar expansion of their existing facilities.

On December 20, 2007, Berry Plastics announced the acquisition of MAC Closures, a Waterloo, Quebec, Canada-based company specializing in injection molding.
