Briggflatts is a long poem by
Basil Bunting . It is subtitled 'An Autobiography'.The name 'Briggflatts' comes from a
Quaker community nearSedbergh . Bunting visited Briggflatts as a schoolboy: the family of a schoolfriend lived there, and Bunting developed a strong attachment to his friend's sister, Peggy Greenbank. The poem's dedication reads 'For Peggy'.The poem has a five part structure. It was first performed on
