Advanced Digital Broadcast (ADB) is a supplier of digital set-top boxes across all transmission platforms including cable, IPTV, satellite and terrestrial. The company was founded in 1995 when it initially focused on developing and marketing software for advanced digital processors. In 1997 the business expanded into the design and manufacture of digital TV equipment.

The company has established itself as a trusted partner to television operators supporting them to launch new services using state-of-the-art technology. Through its unique end-to-end understanding of set-top box software, ADB is able to design and supply highly efficient and performance-optimised hardware platforms ahead of the competition.

ADB’s customers include digital television operators, consumer electronics manufacturers and distributors of digital set-top boxes. Key to the company’s success is its close collaboration with its customers, technology partners and industry regulatory bodies. The company is an expert in system integration, incorporating the industry’s leading middleware, conditional access and hardware technologies.

ADB is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland with its main Research and Development facility in Zielona Gora, Poland and Operations division in Taipei, Taiwan. ADB has local representation in Australia, Israel, Italy, Singapore, Spain, the Ukraine, the United States and the United Kingdom.

In 2001, the company announced the development of an optimised open-standard solution based on the Multimedia Home Platform (MHP) specification and compliant with DVB-MHP 1.0.1

In 2002, ADB became the world’s first set-top box provider to launch an MHP digital receiver – the i-CAN-3000 in Finland.

In 2003, ADB delivered set-top boxes for launch of digital terrestrial services in Italy and also announced the launch of the world’s first MHP Internet set-top box with terrestrial reception.

In 2005, the company secured its first major IPTV contract to supply set-top boxes to Telefónica, Spain.

In 2006, ADB secured its first contract in Germany to supply digital IPTV set-top boxes to HanseNet. It also entered the Czech Republic with the delivery of high definition, hybrid (IPTV/DTT) set-top boxes to Telefónica O2 Czech Republic. ADB also delivered the world’s first hybrid, single-chip, advanced video coding, high definition IPTV set-top boxes to Telefónica, Spain.In the same year during the Winter Olympics, ADB participated in a pilot for the world’s first high definition/MPEG-4 coverage of the Olympics with RAI in Italy.
