"A Dog Called Demolition" is a 1996 fantasy novel by British author Robert Rankin. Most novels have a beginning, a middle and an end. This one doesn't. But it does have a soundtrack. It is about Danny and Demolition, a dog living in Danny's head.

Plot introduction

The start of the book concerns Sam Sprout, who is now close to death. He soon discovers a new, more positive aspect to his life.

The rest focuses on Danny Orion front Brentford and the dog 'Demolition', who lives in his head. Most people have a similar intangible, invisible creature...that sometimes prompts them to commit crimes, from the mundane to the horrible.

As with many of Rankin's novels, there are multiple running gags, in-jokes, guest appearances by characters from other novels and the names of real people inserted in order to slightly increase sales.
