Sylvia Phyllis Hale is an
Australia n politician, she has been a member of theNew South Wales Legislative Council since 2003 for The Greens. She was previously a member ofNo Aircraft Noise from 1994 - 1999, before she joined the Greens in 2000. She was also previously a councillor onMarrickville Council from 1995 - 2004.Personal life
She graduated from the
University of New South Wales with aBachelor of Arts (BA), Graduate Diploma in Education (DipEd), 1964, and aBachelor of Laws (LLB), 1998.She is a social justice, community and environmental campaigner. She was involved in student activism at the
University of Sydney during the 1960s and afterwards spent four years teaching in NSW’s public high schools.In 1977 she started the independent publishing company,
