Moss Creek

Moss Creek is a four-piece American music group based in Denver, Colorado.

Originally formed as a country/bluegrass trio, back in 1979 by Jim Reiter, Don Williamson and Isaac Gilbert, Moss Creek quickly became a four piece country-rock band shortly after forming and initially disbanded in 1981 only to re-form again in 1995. Since their reunion they have gained a reputation as one of the state's hardest-working and most talented acts. This has resulted in them receiving accolades from such prestigious establishments as the Colorado Country Music Hall Of Fame (in 2004 & 2005). The band is a much-loved addition to the local music scene, but its presence has also been felt in Arizona, Kansas and Wyoming (to name just a few states).

The group's repertoire encompasses a wide variety of musical styles (primarily rock and roll, blues and country music) from the 1950s to the present. Each member has brought to the band their various style of musical background allowing Moss Creek to offer such an extremely wide variety of musical categories to offer it's audiences topped of with tremendous vocal harmonizations. As with many bands after many years, membership is constantly changing for one reason or another. Not with Moss Creek. Since October 1997, they have a rock solid membership which in turn has become a brotherhood and along with their ever growing following of devoted fans, Moss Creek has grown into quite a large family including some fans that live on the west and east coast of the United States and in the Canary Islands off the coast of Western Africa. At present with so many businesses of various kinds, including an actual river in Texas and a reservoir near Big Springs, Texas, this Denver, Colorado based band is the only organization in the country that uses 'Moss Creek' as the name and identity of its musical four piece.

The current lineup of Moss Creek is:

*Roger Van Horn (bass guitar, vocals, joined 1995) - Roger has one of the band's most astounding vocal abilities as well as an incredible solid bass playing talent. His musical talent is not just restricted to bass guitar. He can also has been known to play keyboards, drums and rhythm and lead guitar.
*Tony Gilley (drums, percussion, joined 1997) - distantly related to country singer Mickey Gilley, Tony played with many bands before joining Moss Creek. He's been drumming professionally since the age of 14 performing with his bass playing father, John Gilley and his grandfather Dale Gilley. An outstanding and extremely versatile drummer Tony has earned the respect of many bands as one of the most talented drummers around.
*Jim Reiter (rhythm guitar, vocals, joined 1979) - Jim is one of the groups original co-founders from back in August 1979. Jim helps with singing lead and back up vocals.
*Tony Forkes (Keyboards, joined 2006) - Tony2 as his has been called because of him being the '2nd' Tony in the band, is MossCreek's magnificent keyboard player. Although it has never been officially announced, Tony2 has basically become MossCreek's 5th member do to his ever increasing roll of stage work, presence and studio work of the band. He's quite the entertainer when he caresses those keys with his talented fingers.

Also performing on a consistent basis with Moss Creek is singer Robin Lee. Robin has become a mainstay with the group as she provides back up vocals as well as performs a few songs of her own.

The band can often be found performing in bars and other establishments in the Denver area as well as various locations including the famous Eagle/Vail Valley. Moss Creek has also released several limited-edition song collections and participated in the "Last Band Standing" contest sponsored by a very popular Denver classic rock radio station (KRFX-103.5 FM) back in December of 2004. They are best known for cover versions of popular songs, but have also composed two notable pieces of their own ("Can I Be Your Husband?" written by Jim Reiter, and "Just One More Hour" co-written by Roger Van Horn, Deborah Walters. More original songs are in the works to later be released. To learn more about Moss Creek and to view it's members and learn a bit more about them as well view various photos of them performing and their fans, you can go to www.mosscreekband.com and browse through the many features of this site, including their performing schedule, past and upcoming."As with bands in general, sometimes there has to be a membership change do to a member leaving voluntarily or by being voted out for the better of the band. Such is the case with Moss Creek. As of last July 20, 2006, Allen Adley(Tenbrink), lead guitarist, is no longer with Moss Creek. In December 2006, 11 years after Moss Creek had reformed a new lead guitarist, Doug Wolkin (54) of Parker, Colorado and another lead guitarist, 43 year old Drew Nuttall of Littleton, Colorado had solidified their place in Moss Creek during a New Years Eve performance in Parker, Colorado on December 31, 2006-January 1 2007.
