Lynton and Barnstaple Railway , a famously scenic narrow gauge line that ran throughExmoor fromBarnstaple toLynton andLynmouth in NorthDevon . The station served a rural area near the hamlet of Dean, and Caffyns Golf Links. It opened in 1907, and closed on29 September 1935 . From 1923 until closure, the line was operated by the Southern Railway. The site, now within the confines of the
Exmoor National Park is still visible from theLynton -Blackmoor Gate road, and the isolated arch of a road overbridge is still standing as a reminder of the former line. Although there is little of the station itself remaining, a bridge arch is still in place, and the ruined shell of the golf club house remains about half a mile north of the station.###@@@KEYEND@@@###
