The European Tour sanctions several events in Asia, and is making a particular effort to exploit the Chinese market. The event was first played in 1995 and has been part of the European Tour's schedule since 2003. The 2005 prize fund was 1.3 million United States dollars, and in 2006 it was $1.8 million.
