country music radio station broadcasting out of Newcastle, a suburb ofOklahoma City . It operates at 93.3 MHz. Its transmitter is located near Newcastle.History
The KKNG calls were originally on easy listening formatted "King" 92.5 in Oklahoma City. When the Tyler boys were looking for a format to put on their new move-in from Ada (KTLS), they seriously considered resurrecting the easy listening format, even to the point of having the music library ready to go, etc. when Clear Channel launched soft rock KQSR (irronically on 94.7, the former frequency of country music KEBC that was owned by Ralph Tyler!). The format plans were quickly then changed to Classic Country as King Country 93.3 KKNG going in direct competition with Clear Channel's country KXXY and KTST.
Launched in
1998 by Tyler Media, the station is known for itsclassic country format and morning personalities. CurrentDJs include James Ayers*, Kevin Christopher (brought up from Ada's KTLS), Jay Shankle*, Bill Thomas*, Lynn Waggoner*, Chrystal Waters, and Olen Wells*. (*Alumni of KEBC, Ralph Tyler's former country station at 94.7 FM.)External links
