20 October 1984 ) is an Irishrugby union footballer fromColeraine ,County Londonderry inNorthern Ireland . He attended Coleraine Inst, where he competed in theUlster Schools Cup .He plays at outside centre or on the wing for
Ulster Rugby , and more recently Ireland. Trimble, replacing the injuredBrian O'Driscoll , made his debut for Ireland against Australia during the 2005 IRB Autumn Internationals, putting in a solid performance despite playing on the losing side. He started again the following week againstRomania , securing victory for the Irish with two tries. In April 2006 he signed a new three year deal with Ulster. Trimble also plays club rugby forBallymena RFC in theAIB League and has represented Ireland Schools and Ireland U21.Building on his earlier success, Trimble made the 22-man squad for Ireland's
2006 Six Nations Championship opener against Italy. He came on as a second half replacement to score his third try against France, the following week.Trimble's 6 tries in 16 games for Ulster and performances in the autumn internationals and 6 Nations, earned him the BT Irish Rugby Union Players Association's newcomer of the year.
Andrew Trimble is a practising Christian who is studying
theology at theBelfast Bible College and in his later teenage years played drums for local rock band in the North Coast ofNorthern Ireland "Creche".In the 2008 Six Nations, due to an injury in the first match to
Gordon D'Arcy , Trimble switched from the wing to his favoured position of centre.References
