Gordon Divinity School

The Gordon Divinity School was a divinity school established in 1889. It is now known as the Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.

It was originally founded by Adoniram Judson Gordon. Assisting him was James M. Gray. [ [http://mmm.moody.edu/GenMoody/default.asp?SectionID=13F805882ACF4020AE62F6133C4848D8 MBI site describing Gray's involvement] ] Gordon called the school the Boston Bible and Missionary Training School. It was based in the basement of the Clarendon Street Church, a Baptist church in Boston, Massachusetts, and shared Gordon's concern for missions abroad and in New England urban centers. Upon his death, the institution was given his name. The Gordon Divinity School eventually moved to Boston's North Shore community of Wenham.

In 1969, the school merged with the Conwell School of Theology to become the Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. [Gordon College (Massachusetts) in Wenham now exists as an entity separate from and unassociated with the seminary and divinity school.]
