Envelope (band)

Envelope is a pop/rock band from Denmark that has been very much influenced by bands such as The Beatles. Envelope was formed in May 1998 and has to this day been actively involved in performing. The band, as of today, consists of three permanent members - Christoffer Høyer, Jesper Valentin Holm and Sune Ørvad - and various bass guitarists.

Members

"'Envelope has been started by Christoffer Høyer, who is thereby the frontman of the band. Together with Jesper he forms the 'core' of Envelope.

Christoffer Høyer, in the meantime as being the frontman, is Envelope's songwriter, guitarist, pianist and, most important of all, vocals. He has long been collaborating with such songwriters as Hiroaki Serizawa of Japan - who has had more than 50 #1 hits in Asia and sold in excess of 15 million singles - and Adam Argyle of Britain - who has written the single "Next Best Superstar" for ex-Sporty Spice Girl, Melanie C.

Jesper Valentin Holm became a member of Envelope in February 1999 and has since been the drummer and percussionist, as well as the co-frontman.

Sune Ørvad has joined the band rather recently, having since been its guitarist.

Discography

Envelope recorded its debut album - Stay - throughout the summer of 2000. It was released in Denmark on 22 October 2001. Shortly after it was also released in such countries as Norway, Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria and Korea.

With songs such as "Stay", "House of Decay" and "Don't You Want to Ask Me (Who I Am)?" being released as singles and receiving a considerable amount of airplay on large numbers of various radio stations, Envelope had established good grounds for the release of their album Stay. Soon after the release, the song "Stay" became a radio-hit in countries such as Norway and Sweden, where more than fifty radio stations played the song quite frequently, many of them having it A-listed.

The song-listing of Stay is as follows:

1). Stay 2). All the Loveless Ends3). Don't You Want to Ask Me (Who I Am)?4). After All These Years5). Morning Girl6). House of Decay7). Nothing More to Say8). I Live in You Eyes9). You Are Here10). Straight Into the Sun11). It Really Isn't Necessary

Envelope is currently recording its second album, due to be released in October 2008, being produced by Boe Larsen. It shall feature songs such as "Open Window", "Rust Away" and "Lonely Train", which have already gained populairty by being played at various festivals and performances.

Achievements

Envelope's newest single "Open Window", having already been released as a single in Denmark, has gained wide attention from websites such as GarageBand.com, having been awarded with many titles. Track of the Day, Best Production, Best Melody and Best Lyrics are only four of the many awards it has received on Garageband.com.

In 2004, two of Envelope's songs - "Stay" and "Don't You Want to Ask Me?" - were selected to be played on the National American TV show called "Good Girls Don't", broadcast by Oprah Winfrey's channel the Oxygen Network every Friday night to a minimum of 2 million viewers (reaching a potential of 15 million).

The song "Open Window" has also been chosen to play on the episode "Nothing Left To Say But Goodbye" of the popular American TV show "One Tree Hill", produced by Warner Bros. and televised through the CW Television Network.

Christoffer Høyer's partnership works with above mentioned songwriters such as Hiroaki Serizawa and Adam Argyle are not only earning himself and the band more fame and respect, but are also helping him establish his title as a successful songwriter.

One of Envelope's newest (and yet unreleased) songs - "In The Money", written by Christoffer Høyer and producer Boe Larsen - has recently been translated into Finnish by the artist Simo Silmu (Finland's fourth best selling artist at the moment) and is due to be released on his album "Punaisessa talossa" on August 15, 2008.

Envelope has performed several times at Roskilde Festival and Midtfyns Festival, the biggest and most famous rock festivals in Denmark, as well as numerous festivals around the world.
