Katrin Ottarsdóttir (born
1957 ,Tórshavn in theFaroe Islands ) is a Faroesemovie director .Katrin Ottarsdóttir went to Denmark in 1976 and is the first person from the Faroe Islands to study at the film school in
Copenhagen (1982). In 1989, she received for "Atlantic Rhapsody " the first prize for a Faroese film at the film festivalNordische Filmtage .Katrin Ottarsdóttir writes her screenplays herself and also leads the direction. She also produced "Atlantic Rhapsody". Most actors in Karin Ottarsdóttir are Faroese people because the island maintains a rich theater scene and there are many skilled actors there. The Faroe Islands, with its unique landscape, are prominately showcased in her films.
