Saint Aldwyn

Saint Aldwyn

Saint Aldwyn was abbot of Partney Abbey in Lincolnshire, England, during the 7th century.

The only evidence for him is in Bede's "Historia ecclesiastica gentis Anglorum" [http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.asp?compid=37991] , where he is described as the brother of Saint Ethelwine. His sainthood however is by no means firmly established and he has no definite feast day.

The village of Coln St Aldwyn in Gloucestershire is generally supposed to be named after him. However, its geographical location might suggest the name Aldwyn of Malvern instead.
