Lisbon ,8 October 1947 – Lisbon,10 September 2003 ), commonly known by Damas or Vítor Damas (pron. IPA2|'vitɔɾ 'dɐmɐʃ), was a Portuguese football goalkeeper.He was one of the best Portuguese goalkeepers, playing at
Sporting , from 1966/67 to 1974/75, in Santander, Spain, from 1975/76 to 1979/80,Vitória de Guimarães , from 1980/81 to 1982/83,Portimonense , in 1983/84, and, again, Sporting, from 1984/85 to 1988/89.He had 29 caps for the National Team, from
6 April 1969 to11 July 1986 , during a record seventeen years. He was the third goalkeeper at the Euro 84 and the1986 World Cup finals, where he replaced Manuel Bento, after an injury.He remained at Sporting, until 1988/89, wen he finished is career. He was later a trainer. He died, aged 55, from cancer.
