Battle of Dogger Bank

The Battle of Dogger Bank refers to a number of naval battles fought near and over the Dogger Bank in the North Sea:

*The Battle of Dogger Bank (1696) was fought on 7 June 1696 during the War of the Grand Alliance between a French squadron under privateer Jean Bart and a Dutch convoy under protection of Rutger Bucking.

*The Battle of Dogger Bank (1781) was fought on 5 August 1781 during the Fourth Anglo-Dutch War between a British squadron under Vice-Admiral Sir Hyde Parker, 5th Baronet and a Dutch squadron under Rear-Admiral Johan Zoutman.

*The Dogger Bank Incident took place on the night of 21 October 1904 during the Russo-Japanese War when jittery sailors of the Russian Baltic Fleet, en route to the Pacific, opened fire on British fishing boats, imagining them to be Japanese torpedo boats.

*The Battle of Dogger Bank (1915) took place on 24 January 1915, during the First World War, between squadrons of the Royal Navy and the German Navy.
