Choke City

Choke City

Choke City refers to a Houston Chronicle front-page headline in 1994, where the name "Choke City" was given to the City of Houston after the Houston Rockets blew very big leads in the first two games of their second round of their match-up with the Phoenix Suns in the 1994 NBA Playoffs. Although they went down 2-0, the Rockets were able to win Games 3 and 4 in Phoenix and Game 5 in Houston. The Suns rebounded in Game 6, but the Rockets were able to knock off the Suns out of the playoffs after winning Game 7 in Houston. The Rockets would eventually win the 1994 NBA Championship. And the name Clutch City was given to the city in response to the front-page headline.
