Tropical Storm Rita

The name Rita has been used for one tropical cyclone in the Atlantic Ocean and ten tropical cyclones in the western Pacific Ocean.

Rita was used on the modern six-year lists in the Atlantic:
* 2005's Hurricane Rita - powerful Category 5 hurricane that caused $10 billion (2005 US dollars) in damage to Texas and Louisiana.After the 2005 season, Rita was replaced by Rina for the 2011 season.

Rita was also used for ten tropical cyclones in the western Pacific:
* 1948's Typhoon Rita
* 1953's Typhoon Rita
* 1958's Typhoon Rita
* 1961's Tropical Storm Rita
* 1963's Tropical Storm Rita
* 1966's Typhoon Rita
* 1969's Tropical Storm Rita
* 1972's Super Typhoon Rita
* 1975's Typhoon Rita - affected Japan and the Ryūkyū Islands.
* 1978's Super Typhoon Rita - one of the most intense tropical cyclones ever recorded, caused heavy damage in the Philippines.
