Aggreko plc (lse|AGK) is an British company headquartered in Glasgow, Scotland which hires out power generators, temperature control equipment and compressed air systems. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index.

History

Aggreko was founded in the Netherlands in 1962. [http://www.aggreko.com/about_aggreko/history.aspx Aggreko History] ] It moved to Scotland in 1973 and was acquired by Christian Salvesen plc in 1984. It was demerged from Christian Salvesen and first listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1997.

In 2006 the company acquired substantially all the activities (other than those relating to large gas turbines) of General Electric Energy Rentals for total consideration of circa US$212m. Operations

Aggreko has offices in most major cities in Western Europe, the United States and Australia, and smaller numbers of locations in Latin America, the Middle East and Asia. The items hired out include gas and diesel generators, load banks, heaters, air conditioners and chillers. Aggreko equipment is used in a wide variety of settings including film studios, power stations, mines, offshore oil platforms, shipyards, general construction and contracting industries, and high-demand power applications related to emergency response and disaster management. Aggreko's Global Projects business operates out of Dubai from where they can ship powerplants - capable of powering entire cities - to anywhere in the world and have the powerplant operational within days of reaching the destination.
