GiveIndia

GiveIndia is a web portal that seeks to raise donations to assist projects in India. It aims to be the worldwide gateway to empower the millions of economically and socially disadvantaged citizens of India. The portal is owned and managed by the GIVE Foundation, a professionally managed not-for-profit organisation based in Mumbai, India.

Give Online, the online donation channel, is owned and managed by GIVE Foundation itself. Their online promotions states that the Foundation "promotes the act of 'giving by helping 'good' Non-Governmental Organisations raise funds, and by promoting greater transparency and accountability in the nonprofit sector" [http://www.giveindia.org] . The Foundation has a team of over 15 qualified professionals, including MBAs, post-graduates in development and analysts.

GiveIndia does not operate any charities directly. Instead it acts as the channel connecting donors with certified non-profit organizations across India. Non-profit organizations who wish to partner with GiveIndia have to satisfy a minimum set of conditions known as "credibility alliance norms." Among other criteria, organizations must have no political ties and 50 percent of their beneficiaries must be economically underprivileged. As of February, 2006, GiveIndia partners with 90 non-profit organizations.

GiveIndia's Payroll Giving system is a system where employees who wish to help the underprivileged, can voluntarily deduct a small part of their salary every month, to a cause of their choice. Companies like CII, Group M, HDFC Bank, HP, ICICI Group, IMRB, Samtel and several others are part of GiveIndia's Payroll Giving Family all over India.

More recently GiveIndia has been involved with the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon - [http://mumbaimarathon.indiatimes.com/] raising Rs 4.5 crores (roughly 1 million US Dollars) in the 2006 event, and the Hutch Delhi Half Marathon, whose 2nd edition is scheduled for October 15, 2006.

GiveIndia also has representatives abroad in countries like USA, UK, Singapore and Dubai who connect NRI's with non profit organizations and projects in India. [http://www.giveworld.org GiveWorld] is GiveIndia's US channel.
