Ranan Lurie

Ranan R. Lurie (1932-) is an American Israeli editorial cartoonist and journalist. He is a Senior Associate at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a member of the United Nation Correspondents Association, and the editor of "Cartoon News" magazine.

Lurie became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1974.

Lurie lives in Greenwich, Connecticut with his wife [http://www.tamarlurie.com/ Tamar Lurie] , a real estate manager. He is the father of film and television director and screenwriter Rod Lurie. Lurie is also a member of Mensa [cite journal | title = They're Accomplished, They're Famous, and They're MENSANS | journal = Mensa Bulletin | publisher = American Mensa | id = ISSN 0025-9543 | year = 2004 | month = July | issue = 476 | pages = p. 26 ] .

The Ranan Lurie Political Cartoon Awards were created in 2000 to recognize cartoons that "enhance, explain and help direct the spirit and principles of the UN." The awards are worth a total of $18,000.
