Kootikooti

Kootikooti

Kootikooti is the Malay slang name for the game called "erasers" or "kesi-pin". The literal meaning is 'to nudge with the fingers'.

How to play

The game is played with erasers, popsicle sticks, bottle caps, plastic animals, ANTHING...For this discussion we'll refer to them as "play-pieces".

The object of the game is to take turns flipping or nudging the "play-pieces" in order to "land" on top of your opponents' piece to "pin" it (the wrestling term by which the player who is "pinned" looses the match).

Rules may vary, and the "value" of the "play-pieces" is dependent on the objects on-hand being used, or any house rules, or subject to the whim of the players (traditionally this is an improvised game type).

Keshi-pin is Japanese slang for the same phenomena.

In England and the USA (mostly in the pre-computer era) the game was called "erasers". The "play-pieces" were the pink 'slab' erasers that school children often had 'on hand'.

In general, this style of play happens worldwide.
