April 14 1954 , Stirling) is a Scottish Labour politician, andMember of the Scottish Parliament for Cumbernauld and Kilsyth constituency since 1999. She was re-elected in 2003 with a majority of 520 votes, and increased this to 2,079 in 2007, partly thanks to the fact that theScottish Socialist Party either chose not to field a candidate as they had in 2003, or were in too weak a position to do so following the division of the left over theTommy Sheridan faction split and the establishment ofSolidarity (Scotland) . .
