Designed by Wisconsin State ArchitectArthur Peabody in consultation with Paul Cret of the firm of Laird and Cret, the arena opened in1930 . It was home to theWisconsin Badgers basketball team before they moved toKohl Center ; currently the building is used by thevolleyball and wrestling teams. The Wisconsin volleyball team got its first ever sellout onOctober 21 ,2007 to watch the Badgers play No. 1 Penn State. The "W" crest at the top of the fieldhouse is the official emblem of theUniversity of Wisconsin-Madison . The fieldhouse was listed on theNational Register of Historic Places in 1998.References
