The station began targeting the Austin radio market from
Killeen, Texas in the mid1980s as Top 40 KBTS, but by 1993 they would go through different formats.By 2001 they returned to Top 40, This time as Dance-intensive KXMG(MEGA 93.3). It was also at this time that they changed its COL to Cedar Park as well.
In 2003 Emmis acquired the station and in the process evolved toward a R&B/Hip-Hop direction as "HOT 93.3". The move has paid off for them ratings wise.
KDHT is one of three Top 40s in Austin radio wars, the other two being Rhythmic (Urban) rival
