Vlax Romany is an Indo-Aryan dialect/language spoken mainly in Southeastern Europe by Roma people. It is considered either an independent language or a dialect of the Romany language, as it is mutually intelligible with many other Romany dialects (mostly Balkanic, Carpathic). Vlax Romany is the most widely-spoken dialect of the Romany language. Most Vlax Romany speakers live in Bosnia-Herzegovina (400,000) followed by Romania (241,617), Colombia (79,000) and Albania (60,000). Writing systems

Vlax Romany is written using the Romany alphabet, which is based on the Latin alphabet with several additional characters. In the area of former Soviet Union it is written also with the Cyrillic alphabet.
