Bomberman game to grace theSuper Famicom . The game was released in two variations: a standard cartridge and a gold cartridge, which was sold exclusivelythroughCoroCoro Comic . Gold cartridge contains unlocked extra maps in battle mode.tory
The story is that an evil Bomber named Emperor Terrorin with the power of Time itself, has freed various criminal Bombers from their prisons in orbit around Planet Bomber. Setting them up in a warped time and space, Shirobon, Kurobon, and their Louie (Rui) companions must travel through stages and defeat them before going up against Emperor Terrorin himself.
ingle-player
The single-player portion of Super Bomberman 5 is nonlinear, giving players a choice of which level they'd like to complete next. These phases are all based on the 4 Super Bomberman games for the SNES, containing remixed music and the same sprites of the game, and the fifth phase completely new. Depending of your path, you can accumulate 100% of completion.
After finishing 100%, the game map is reset, which allows player to finish the maps 200%. When completing 200% map, a new password is given.
Multi-player
There are nine characters to choose from, and over 10 maps to play on (though the extra three maps in the gold version can be unlocked in the normal cart as well). A create-a-character mode, which is unique to Super Bomberman 5, lets players choose their character and color and allots them a number of points. These points can be used to equip the power-up items from the single-player game. If you enter in password menu (Options → Password) 0413, the maps in battle mode will change.
There are also 10 playable characters in Battle Mode, nine of which are bosses in Normal Mode:
*Bomberman:The main character for Normal Mode. He is the only playable good character.
*Bomber Woof:The first boss in Normal Mode, found in Zone 1, this dog is quick and nimble. He uses only land mine bombs in Normal Mode.
*Dave Bomber:One of two bosses in Zone 2 of Normal Mode, Dave Bomber is slow and can't drop many bombs but has a lot of firepower and can create soft blocks. He can also punch bombs. Arguably the hardest boss of any video game ever made, he is an obese man with a top hat.
*Gary Bomber:One of two bosses in Zone 2 of Normal Mode, Gary Bomber resembles Dave Bomber, but is much skinnier. He can drop plenty of bombs, but is not very quick. He uses homing bombs the most and can also kick bombs.
*Pirate Bomber:One of two bosses in Zone 3 of Normal Mode, Pirate Bomber is the first boss in normal mode to come with an evil Rooey. He is also the first boss in Normal Mode to have a small arena. Pirate Bomber comes with a "subordinate bomber" ally, who is playable in Battle Mode by using cheat codes, who resembles a more typical pirate underling.
*Muscle Bomber:One of two bosses in Zone 3 of Normal Mode, Muscle Bomber starts with maximum bombs. He kicks and punches bombs, making him a mixture of Dave Bomber and Gary Bomber. He resembles a superhero, complete with a cape.
*Iron Mask Bomber:One of three bosses in Zone 4 of Normal Mode, Iron Mask Bomber is fought in an arean similar to that of Pirate Bomber, but with the addition of explosion tubes, which are also present in all further boss battles except for the one at the end of the game. He starts with an evil Rooey. Iron Mask Bomber uses spiked bombs, which go through soft blocks, and can summon enemies. He is very vulnerable once summoning an enemy. He resembles Bomberman, but with an iron mask and an axe.
*Baron Bomber:One of three bosses in Zone 4 of Normal Mode, Baron Bomber has a mustache, a cape, and a helmet. He is quick and has maximum firepower bombs. He can also "summon" skull power-ups, which usually appear right next to Bomberman. He can get the disease if Bomberman runs through him with a skull power-up. He comes with an evil Rooey.
*Plunder Bomber:One of three bosses in Zone 4 of Normal Mode, Plunder Bomber resembles a ninja and starts with an evil Rooey. He can walk through soft blocks and is very quick.
*Gold Bomber:Gold Bomber becomes available once all 100 levels in Normal Mode are beaten.
Rooeys
As in Super Bomberman 3, spotted green eggs containing the kangaroo-like creature named Rooey can be found in both the story and multiplayer modes. They are released from their eggs when the player character makes contact with the egg. In "Super Bomberman 5", the Rooeys each have a different attire, ability and color, as opposed to the Rooeys in "Super Bomberman 3" which have only a different color and ability.
*KeRooey: He has the ability to kick a bomb in an arc a distance away, like the Power Glove. He's blue and wears a shirt decorated with red and yellow horizontal lines.
*GyaRooey: She can kick a "soft" block and it will glide across the ground until stopped, destroying any power-ups in its way. If the moving block collides with another soft block, they'll be moved in the same direction while the original comes to a halt. Bombs and players can also stop moving soft blocks by getting in their way. The Rooey is golden-yellow and wears a red bow at the back of her head.
*HaneRooey: He can jump over one "block" obstacle, be it a solid wall, breakable wall, bomb, or even a bomb blast. He's pink in coloration and wears a backwards, light green baseball cap while riding on a pogostick.
*MagicaRooey: This Rooey has the Line Bomb ability from previous games in which he lays the maximum number of bombs the Bomberman has obtained in the direction faced unless that line is blocked by something, be it a block or a player. He's purple and wears a top hat and a black magician's mask.
*MaRooey: Rather than running as in "Super Bomberman 3", this green Rooey now rolls very quickly until stopped by a block or bomb due to being fat and round as a ball.
*NaguRooey: This Rooey is able to punch an opponent, causing the opponent to be temporarily stunned, though not knocking loose any power-ups as if a thrown bomb had hit them. The orange Rooey wears green boxing gloves.
*WaRooey: This is the only Rooey the player can never obtain. It's black with red eyes and a spiked outfit. It seems to have no special abilities of its own. Only used by certain bosses in Normal Mode. Its name is a play on the Japanese word warui, meaning "bad" or "wicked".External links
