- Warehouse (nightclub)
The Warehouse (or the "House" for shortFact|date=September 2007) was a
nightclub that was established inChicago ,Illinois in 1977 under the direction of Robert Williams. It is today most famous for being what many consider to be the birthplace and heart of "house music " under its first musical director,DJ Frankie Knuckles . A broad spectrum of dance music was being played; however, first and foremost were R'n'B andDisco . Knuckles experimented with different possibilities of developing an original expression, mixing disco music with European electronic music.When The Warehouse doubled the admission fee in 1982, Knuckles was indignant about it and he left the club. The Warehouse was renamed “Music Box” and
Ron Hardy was booked as a resident DJ.Marshall Jefferson also played the decks in the legendary club. In 1987 the “Music Box” closed.ee also
