John Brown, also well known by his nickname "Bomber", (born January 26, 1962 in Stirling) is a former Scottish professional footballer, and current manager of Scottish First Division side Clyde. He played for Hamilton Academical, Dundee and Rangers during his playing days.

Career

Playing

Brown started his career at Hamilton before moving on to Dundee. He was signed by Rangers in January 1988 and went on to play 278 games for the club winning 6 league Titles, 3 Scottish Cups and 3 league Cups scoring 18 goals in the process.

Managerial

Brown took over as coach of Rangers' Under-18s in 1997 before moving on to coach the reserve team in 2003, replacing former teammate John McGregor. He left the Rangers coaching setup on 27 June 2006 just weeks after new manager Paul Le Guen took charge.

Brown was linked with the vacant Clyde job in June 2007, but lost out after the job was given to former Scotland captain Colin Hendry.

He is a regular contributor to Ibrox Uncovered, the nightly magazine programme on Rangers TV.

On November 21, 2007, Brown was announced as the new manager of Dumbarton currently playing in the Scottish Third Division. However on November 22, it emerged Brown had turned down the Dumbarton post due to personal reasons.
