Highdown (HM Prison)

HM Prison Highdown is a men's prison in Surrey, England in the borough of Reigate and Banstead, overlooking Banstead Downs and immediately adjacent to the southern boundary of Greater London.

It is a high security prison which holds both convicted and remanded prisoners. It was built in the 1990s on the site previously occupied by Banstead Lunatic Asylum, which was built in 1877 and demolished in 1989.
