List of string quartets by Joseph Haydn

List of string quartets by Joseph Haydn

This is a list of string quartets by Joseph Haydn, including the number they are given in Anthony van Hoboken's catalogue of his works. "FHE" stands for "First Haydn Edition." Note that some of the quartets in the standard numbering, here marked "spurious", were long thought to be by Haydn, but are now attributed by scholars to other composers.

"Opus 0"

This genuine Haydn string quartet was originally omitted from Pleyel's "complete"edition of the quartets and is sometimes alternately referred to as "Op. 1, No. 0".
