A. Y. Jackson Secondary School is a community high school in Kanata, a suburb of Ottawa, Canada. It is operated by the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, and is in Zone Two. The school was first opened on October 21, 1976. The school was named after A. Y. Jackson, a noted Canadian painter, and one of the founders of the Group of Seven. A.Y stands for Alexander Young.

A.Y. Jackson has just under 870 students attending its program. The majority of students come from W.O. Mitchell Elementary School, Bridlewood Community Elementary School, or Glen Cairn Public School, its three feeder schools.

Achievements

This was the first school in the area to participate in the Engineers of Ontario community outreach program's "Engineer-in-Residence" project. In 2006, A.Y. Jackson Secondary School became the first school to be named a Global Learning Centre.

JTV

AY Jackson is home to JTV, an in-house closed-circuit television station, that produces a daily news and information program. This station earned several students the 2005 OCRI High School IT Entrepreneur of The Year Award.

JTV (Jackson TV or Jay TV) first aired in 2004. JTV was offered as a 2 semester, 2 credit technology course. It replaced the traditional audio announcements via the Public Address system. "The Friday Show" was a very popular comedy program produced by two students. A new episode typically played every Friday. The JTV class was slightly modified for the 2006-2007 school year. It is no longer a 2 semester, 2 credit course, and has been split into a regular 1 semester, 1 credit course. The 2005-2006 Friday feature often featured "sportsman stu" and was panned by the student body. However, the overall production of 2005-2006, was more focused on Film-style production and less on the technologial parts of producion. The 2006-2007 Jtv class gained much more success than its predecessors and seemed to get many good reviews with the Friday feature "Fast Times at A.Y. High" (a mockery of the film 'Fast times at Ridgemont high) starring Stephen Creech, Anthony Salfi, and Dan Westenberger. The 2007-2008 first semester has gotten bad reviews, however the second semester so far has been doing well with much editing skills.
