- Offerton Park
-
Offerton Park is an estate and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport in Greater Manchester, England, situated to the south-east of Stockport town centre. The parish boundaries exclude the area of Offerton Green, further to the east. At the 2001 census the parish had a population of 3,762.[1]
In 2006, the Offerton Estate Parish changed its name to the Offerton Park Parish to better reflect the actual boundaries of the Parish which encompasses an area larger than the Offerton Estate itself.
In 2006 Dial Park Primary School, which had previously closed down with a number of other schools in the Stockport area in 2003, was burnt down creating huge smoke that could be seen all over the borough. The fire was so devastating that 13 fire engines had to attend the incident. Before the fire though, they had moved to Offerton Hall Primary Schools Building, because offerton hall had closed due to not enough students in the school and dial park was moved because the building was too small and didnt meet the correct standards required so it would need more work doing.
