Fred Coury (born October 20, 1966 in Johnson City, New York [http://www.FredCoury.com] ) is best known as the drummer for the glam metal band Cinderella. Coury lists Neil Peart, Peter Criss, Bobby Blotzer, Tommy Lee and Tommy Aldridge as his drumming inspirations. [http://www.FredCoury.com]

The early years

At age 5, Coury started taking violin lessons. At age 6 he participated in his first public performance. Between the ages of 7 and 9 he studied at the Beirut Conservatory of Music in Beirut, Lebanon. At age 10 he added the trumpet to his repertoire. Finally, at age 12 he started to play the drums. By the tender age of 13 he was playing local bars with 'Sunjammer'. [http://www.FredCoury.com] At age 14 Coury saw Keith Moon and The Who perform in Toronto, Canada at CNE Stadium. This was the moment where Coury realized that performing and being a professional drummer was what he really wanted to do. Spending hours each day in his basement with a friend (who pretended to video tape the action) and Kiss music blasting through the speakers, Coury pretended that he was filming a music video long before MTV became a reality. While many in his neighborhood told him to stop dreaming and get a real job, he was encouraged by his close friends to carry on. The professional years

Coury has played in other bands including London. In 1991 Coury left Cinderella and joined Stephen Pearcy of Ratt to form Arcade. He also briefly substituted for Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler in 1988 when health issues forced Adler off the road. [http://www.FredCoury.com] However, Coury re-joined Cinderella after Arcade folded. In the summer of 2006, Coury and Cinderella joined Poison on a joint 20th anniversary tour.

Other interests

In his spare time Coury enjoys working as a photographer, most notably of weather phenomenon. He is also a part-time actor and has appeared in several films. Coury performs mixes for his dance/elecronica group called Effcee. Coury is an avid NASCAR fan and can often be seen in 'pit row' alongside the crews. [http://www.FredCoury.com]

As revealed during his interview with Maul Stanley, Fred is a lifelong Star Wars fan who enjoyed the films both while growing up and as an adult. He remembers seeing the original film during its opening week at the Cinerama Dome in Hollywood, whereas he saw the last of the series via unofficial DVD while on a Cinderella tour bus during the summer of 2005.
