- Brubacher Hall
Brubacher Hall is located on State Street in
Albany, New York . It first opened in 1951 and is a freshman dorm building for theCollege of Saint Rose though it is located on Alumni Quad of theUniversity at Albany, State University of New York . It was named after Abram Roy Brubacher and was first designed as a dormitory for three hundred women, and it also housed the school's first student union and acted as a lodging facility for overnight and weekend visitors. It is one of the few dormatorys that still allows indoor smoking, featuring a dedicated smoking lounge in the basement of the building.UAlbany retained use of Brubacher Hall through the mid-1990s when they leased it to the College of Saint Rose when that school had been going through a housing crisis.

The College of Saint Rose is planning to upgrade the facilities over the Summer of 2007. The facility will remain under the ownership of SUNY Albany, remaining rented by the College of Saint Rose (the project makes little sense to the campus community when they are investing money in a building they do not own, and the money is used ONLY for the main lobby and room directly behind the lobby. No money has been used to update bathrooms or dormrooms at all).
