R30 (New York City Subway car)
- R30 (New York City Subway car)
style.
The cars were "Protestant" married pairs, which means that they were coupled together as pairs. The R30s were primarily BMT Eastern Division cars, although they would appear in the northern and southern divisions from time to time.
The General Electric R30 cars as well as the R30As were overhauled in 1985. The last unrebuilt R30s were retired in 1989 and some 1990. The last of the rebuilt R30 cars were retired from passenger service in 1993. The Electric Railroaders Association sponsored a Farewell to the R30 Fan Trip with more photos of these cars in action.
