Patrick Joseph Sullivan

Patrick Joseph Sullivan (March 17, 1865-1935) of Casper, Wyoming, born in County Cork, Ireland was the mayor of Casper, Wyoming from 1897 to 1898 and a was Republican member of the United States Senate from Wyoming from 1929 to 1930.

Patrick Joseph Sullivan was born on a farm at Kilcrohane west of Bantry, County Cork, Ireland, He emigrated to America in 1888, landed in New York, and moved on to the Territory of Wyoming. he was engaged in sheep raising in Rawlins, Carbon County, Wyoming. He moved to Casper, WY, in 1892, and became interested in banking, the production of oil, and various other enterprises. He was a member of the Wyoming House of Representatives 1894-1896, 1898-1900, and the Mayor of Casper 1897-1899. He was appointed on December 5, 1929, as a Republican to the United States Senate to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Francis E. Warren and served from December 5, 1929, to November 20, 1930, when a successor was elected and qualified. He was not a candidate for election to fill the vacancy. He continued his former business pursuits until his death in Santa Barbara, Calif., April 8, 1935 and was interred in Highland Cemetery, Casper, WY.
