Hong Kong Aviation Club

The Hong Kong Aviation Club was established in 1982 upon the amalgamation of the Hong Kong Flying Club, the Aero Club of Hong Kong and the Far East Flying & Technical School. Half of the building is used for the headquarters of the Hong Kong Air Cadet Corps and they are associated with the Aviation Club.

Today, the Hong Kong Aviation Club remains the only organization in Hong Kong which offers training on both fixed-wing aircraft and helicopter to Private Pilot License Level, including all required ground school subjects. The Club is also the only organization in Hong Kong where such a license can be kept current.

The Club's fleet of eight aircraft is available for both training and leisure flying. Flying activities takes place at Shek Kong Airfield. Two fully qualified engineers are employed full time to maintain the aircraft. Hangar facilities are both located at Shek Kong Airfield and former Kai Tak Airport. General aviation aircraft are not permitted at Hong Kong International Airport at Chek Lap Kok.

The Club is a member of the Federation Aeronautique Internationale (FAI), and is the local authority representing the FAI to issue Sporting Licenses for Hong Kong participants.

The Club's 500 members consist of Full (Flying) Members, Associate (social) Members, Social Corporate Members, Affiliated Members. In addition, there are over 500 overseas members.

The Club activities consist of flying and social activities. The Clubhouse consists of a bar and a restaurant. The club restaurant serves Continental and Asian food and is opened for both lunch and dinner. The bar is opened till midnight. Two function rooms are available for seminars, training and private functions. The House Sub-Committee and the Food and Beverage Sub-committee are continually organising special events and features.
