"The Presidio" is an American action movie, released in 1988 by Paramount Pictures, directed by Peter Hyams and starring Sean Connery, Mark Harmon, Meg Ryan and Jack Warden. Hyams also photographed. The score was composed by Bruce Broughton.

Plot

At the Presidio, the Army base in San Francisco, a female MP (Jenette Goldstein) was shot. Jay Austin (Harmon), a San Francisco Police detective, is sent to investigate and he is met by Lt. Colonel Caldwell (Connery), the provost marshal, who was his commanding officer when he was an MP at the Presidio.

Years ago, Austin tried to arrest an Army officer (Dana Gladstone). Caldwell didn't support him, and in the aftermath Austin was demoted, so Austin then quit the army. The murdered MP was Austin's partner. Now the investigation casts suspicion on the officer Austin tried to arrest. When Caldwell refuses to let Austin press him, Austin tries to go after him on his own but the suspect is killed in a hit and run after a lengthy footchase. Caldwell is not pleased about it, and the fact Austin is now dating Caldwell's daughter (Ryan) is not helping the relationship at all.
