- Qareen
Qareens [qɑrɪn] (قرين) according to Islamic literature are evil spirits, analogous to a personal demon, intent on tricking people into acts of
sin . Qareens are unique to each individual, according to sorcery books, they can be summoned by psychics after a person's death, such as in aseance , for thesoul goes toGod and the unruly qareen would remain on earth. The qareen conforming to his malevolent nature, impersonating the deceased whose character he's familiar with.In the
Arabic language , qareen also means "constant companion". The companion can be either good or evil. From a purely
Qur'an ic view Qareens have been mentioned in the following:
*And whosoever turns away blindly from the remembrance of the Most Gracious (Allâh) (i.e. this Qur’ân and adoration of Allâh), We appoint for him [شيطان] Shaytan ( [סַטַן] Satan - devil - unruly - defiant) to be a Qareen (a companion) to him.Sura Az-Zukhruf (43:36)As explained above, a Qareen is a devil appointed as a companion. The Qareen should not be asked to be brought out or revealed because they are dangerous.
The description of Qareen seem to have striking resemblance to the Roman
Genius (mythology) /Juno (mythology) . And it is possible that the concept ofDjinn /Genie also ties in from an etymological point of view. The Qareen is believed to represent the Evil of faith, a belief shared by Islam, Christianity and Judaism. The journey through life is influenced by the power struggles between the individual's Qareen and his physical faculty of reasoning and religious guidelines mainly "right and wrong". A constant fight succeeding in wise, ethical decisions, effect the conquer of the Qareen into docility. The physical faculty becomes the influencer and authority rather than being influenced. This stage is described as a powerful stage in spiritual development that reduces the difficulties of daily Qareen compulsion. The few individuals reaching this stage describe immense peace and tranquility in their lives.
