Roxanne (born Dolores Evelyn Rosedale on
20 March 1928 ) was a model andactress . She was born inMinneapolis ,Minnesota . She was the blonde assistant on theBud Collyer -hosted original version of theGoodson-Todman Productions game showBeat the Clock . Roxanne did not use a surname in her professional work.Roxanne became pregnant and retired from show business when she left "Beat the Clock" in August 1955. She gave birth to her daughter Anne in December 1955. She would later give birth to four more children.
Roxanne had a
doll which was fashioned after her which was called, naturally, "The Roxanne Doll". It was a hard plastic doll which stood 18 inches tall. It had movable legs which allowed the doll to "walk." Manufactured circa 1953 by the Valentine Company, these dolls are still seen today in 2005 on web sites selling or auctioning vintage toys. The blue-eyed doll had a "Beat the Clock" tag on the doll's wrist, and came with a miniature red camera. Roxanne would give these dolls to the contestants' daughters on "Beat the Clock".As of May 2006, Roxanne is alive and well, living in Minnesota.
