Joshua West

Joshua West

Joshua West (born on May 30, 1973 in North Carolina, USA) is an American singer, songwriter, composer and multi-instrument musician. His musical styles have been compared to The Beatles, Elliott Smith, Jeff Buckley, Lenny Kravitz, Prince, Wilco and others by media and fans.

Early life

West is the son of Catherine (Kiser) Gunter and Michael West, both singers and musicians. His early musical experiences were teaching himself to play popular music on guitar and piano, followed by joining his high school band, where he learned to play various percussion and wind instruments.

Early career

He first joined a band when the Model Citizens needed a new bassist, and from there played in other local bands - Sweet Mash, Crank, The Hausman Syndicate, Creamy Velour, and others. In 1999, he formed the band "Joshua," which turned into "Joshua3." Works released under the name "Joshua3" include 2001's September 11 tribute single, "The Lost," and 2002's "Down." "The Lost" was able to raise almost $700 for the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. "Down," had moderate success (on a local level, although several copies have been sold in Sweden), and featured Clay Howard of Stratocruiser on backing vocals.

Later career

He has since released the song "4am," on the Elliott Smith tribute album, "A Fond Farewell," and is known to be currently recording a new album in his studio, "Own 2 Hands Studio" in North Carolina.
