Lynfield is an Auckland suburb. It is under the local governance of the Auckland City Council. According to the 2001 census, the population numbers 8934.

The main road through the centre of Lynfield is 'The Avenue', with many roads branching off, including Halsey Drive, the suburb's longest street, which curves around a large portion of the inner suburb.

The local primary school is Halsey Drive Primary School, which is situated opposite the Lynfield Reserve on Halsey Drive. The closest intermediate schools are Waikowhai Intermediate to the east and Blockhouse Bay Intermediate to the north. The local high school is Lynfield College, with two entrances on White Swan Road and one on Boundary Road. Catholic students may attend St Peter's College (for boys), Marist College (for girls) or Marcellin College (coed).

The suburb has a local shopping centre which consists of a Countdown supermarket, a large pub known as the Cock & Bull, Wendy's, Zyka indian Cuisine, KFC, Subway and Pizza Hut fast food restaurants, a Video Ezy store for home video rental, NZ Postshop, florist, doctor's clinic and pharmacy among other stores including a smaller pub and a few smaller eateries. An ASB Bank branch is also located within the complex. The shopping complex is on a corner site, on the corner of Hillsborough Rd and The Avenue.
