Richard A. "Rick" Merkt (born
July 30 1949 ) is an American Republican Partypolitician , who has served in theNew Jersey General Assembly since 1998, where he represents the 25th legislative district.Merkt has served as the Assembly's
Parliamentarian since 2006. He serves in the Assembly on the Appropriations Committee, the Higher Education Committee and the Intergovernmental Relations Commission.
