Punata

Punata is the capital of Punata Province, Bolivia.

Punata is a small province located south of city of Cochabamba, Bolivia. It is surrounded by Arani, Tarata, Cliza. It is about 45Km from the city of Cochabamba. Its archaeological and historic sites are the main interest for foreign tourists. Its population is small; and it’s mainly populated by business people who travel around the countryside of the provinces doing different kind of business. People from Punata and surrounding areas used to be called “Vallunos” meaning coming from the valleys of Punata and other surrounding small towns. Punata is renowned for its wonderful agricultural market held every Tuesday where people from surrounding towns and rural villages come to sell and buy.
