Foley (musician)

Joe McCreary, known professionally as Foley, played bass guitar for Miles Davis from 1987 until 1991. Foley spent many years playing in Columbus, Ohio where he was born and raised , composing and recording his own music. Foley sometimes fulfills the role of a lead guitarist, with his famous Blue Marble "Lead bass." He tunes his instrument one octave higher than usual and uses a combination of effects pedals and his own unique phrasing to achieve a sound more closely associated with that of a lead guitar.ref|lastmiles He played a lead bass solo on Mint Condition's R&B Top 30 hit "So Fine".

Foley is featured on the Miles Davis albums "Amandla", "Dingo", "Live Around The World", and "The Complete Miles Davis at Montreux".

The Motown recording artist released an album "7 Years Ago...Directions In Smart-Alec Music"in 1993. The album featured the moderate hit "If It's Positive". The song (and it's video) features guest appearances from Speech and Aerle Taree (of Arrested Development). The video also had a good rotation in airplay. He was also seen in Arrested Development's Ease My Mind video. He has toured with the group on numerous occasions, even appearing live on the Arsenio Hall Show with them , while also holding down double-duty during Lollapolooza '93 with Fishbone.

His website has very insightful interviews with other legendary musicians & actors , though often imitated, Foley's "Inner-views" have been praised by many entertainment journalists.

Foley has been sighted on stage with Miles Davis, Lenny White, Marcus Miller, Res, Fishbone, Arrested Development, George Clinton, Macy Gray, Mint Condition, Prince, Davina, Kenny Garrett, Santana, Alice in Chains, Foreigner, Monica and Primus.
