After gaining a BA at Wits University together with an Associate Teacher's diploma in Speech and Drama at Trinity College London, she joined the country's premier talk radio station, 702 Talk Radio as a trainee reporter in 1993, graduating to the co-Producer of Newsday with Chris Gibbons and Gary Edwards, the station's premier news show. In 1997, Sam moved to 94.7, an adult contemporary radio station in Johannesburg and has co-hosted the Rude Awakening, the station's breakfast show since then.]In 2001 Sam co-wrote No Sugar, Canderel Please with Harry Sideropoulos, a comedy show on weight and the modern adult. It's played six seasons so far and there are plans to take it internationally.
In 2002 Sam was in the South African Celebrity Big Brother. After being told she would need to shower on camera Sam got increasingly upset and insisted on being removed from the house and with Jeremy Mansfield and Dennis Adriao of the South African Police Service Sam was air lifted out of the house.
She has written a book called "Waiting for Christopher", a tongue-in-cheek look at pregnancy and pregnant mothers, written whilst she herself was pregnant with her son, Christopher.
She has written a second book looking at the trials and tribulations that face most mothers. This book "Good Enough Mother" is the story of her second pregnancy and bring a new little girl, Genevieve into the live she has built with Christopher and her lovely husband Martin.
Sam presents a television show which is a 21st Century Guide to Parenting on E-TV, called Great Expectations.
Sam is also collaborating with Lee van Loggerenberg on putting together an Irreverent Mother's Handbook for new desperate Mums!
